Cobscook Falls was purchased in 2006 by QRLT, with the
generosity of Markley Boyer and funding from the National
Coastal Wetlands Conservation Program.
QRLT's partners in this project included
the Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Maine Coast
Heritage Trust, Ducks Unlimited, Inc. and U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Services Gulf of Maine Coastal Program.

QRLT
owernership will ensure the long term protection of this properties
scenic beauty and important ecological and cultural
resources.

Cobscook Bay is widely recognized by conservation biologists as the
premier coastal wildlife concentration side in the northeastern United
States. The area has protected high value habitat for wintering
waterfowl such as black ducks, migratory shorebirds, and
endangered/threatened species, including bald eagles. This
parcel has protected a keystone parcel, located in the heart of the
high value conservation region.
The protected property offers great opportunities to local residents
and vacationing outdoor enthusiasts for daytime use.
Recreational opportunities include hiking, bird-watching, coastal
canoeing and kayaking, nature study, biological research, sport
fishing, hunting, clamming, cross-county skiing and other low impact
foot access. All recreational use is encouraged to be consistent
with conservation goals of protecting high value wetland, fish and wildlife
habitat.
