About the Quoddy Regional Land Trust

Founded in 1987, the Quoddy Regional Land Trust combines professional staffing with volunteer energy and enthusiasm to achieve rapid results with limited financial resources.  On our own and in partnership with others, we now protect over 6,202 acres and 48 miles of salt and freshwater shore on Cobscook Bay and Passamaquoddy Bay in the Quoddy region in Downeast, Maine.  We also manage Cobscook Trails, a partnership project to develop and steward hiking trails and distribute a trail guide to area conservation properties.     Press Releases

Sailing on Cobscook Bay aboard the Sylvina Beal QRLT celebrated the 20th Anniversary of conserving land DownEast.

The Quoddy Region

Located “way Down East,” where Maine meets New Brunswick, the Quoddy Region boasts some 430 miles of spectacular coastline, rugged cliffs and quiet bays, wooded hills, lakes and rivers.  This diversity of wetland and uplands are home to an extraordinary array of wildlife.

   ·        One of Maine’s most important concentrations of waterfowl

   ·        Important populations of songbirds and shorebirds

   ·        The highest density of nesting bald eagles in the northeastern United    States

   ·        Deer, moose, bobcats, bears and other wildlife

   ·        Rich offshore waters, supporting valued fisheries and several species of  seals, dolphins and whales

The Quoddy Region’s scenic and natural diversity is of local, national and international significance.  It is a place, as well, of multi-generational families, small businesses, strong communities and residents with a great love for their land and their ways of life here in Washington County, Maine.

QRLT is a non-profit membership organization operated as a tax-exempt charity having IRS 501( c ) ( 3 ) status.
